Product Care
LIKREAT objects are made through hand carving, casting, electroplating, antiquing, oxidation, heat colouring and other mixed-metal surface processes. Considered care helps preserve the colour, texture and detail of every piece over time.
Everyday Care
After wearing, gently wipe the surface with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to remove perspiration, skin oils and daily residue. Do not use coarse cloths, abrasive tools or polishing agents with a strong cutting effect.
Avoid Water and Chemicals
Remove jewellery before bathing, swimming, surfing, diving, using a sauna or hot spring, or extended exposure to hot water.
- Keep pieces away from perfume, cosmetics, skincare products and hairspray.
- Avoid contact with detergents, alcohol, acids, salt water and strongly acidic or alkaline substances.
- Where possible, remove jewellery before applying fragrance, skincare or cosmetics, and allow products to dry before wearing it again.
Storage
When not in use, store jewellery separately in its LIKREAT pouch, jewellery box or a soft cloth bag to avoid pressure, scratches and friction with other pieces. Keep pieces in a cool, dry, ventilated place away from direct sunlight and high temperatures. For pieces that will not be worn for an extended period, a sealed bag can help reduce contact with air and humidity.
925 Sterling Silver
925 sterling silver may naturally oxidise or darken over time. This is a normal material characteristic. For ordinary surface oxidation, use a cloth designed for sterling silver and wipe gently.
If a piece includes an intentionally antiqued or oxidised black finish, avoid repeated or forceful polishing in the same area, as this may alter the original finish.
Antiqued and Oxidised Finishes
Some LIKREAT works are deliberately finished with antiquing or oxidation. Variations in depth of colour, darkness and texture are part of the design.
Avoid hot water, ultrasonic cleaners, toothpaste, abrasive cloths, strong cleaning agents and polishing tools. These methods may permanently remove the intended antique or oxidised finish.
Gold-Plated and Electroplated Pieces
Electroplated surfaces may change naturally over time through friction, perspiration, humidity and care habits. Wipe plated pieces only with a soft, dry cloth.
Do not use metal-polishing cloths with a pronounced abrasive effect. Avoid prolonged contact with water, swimming-pool water or showering, as this can help extend the life of plated and antiqued finishes.
Copper Works
Copper is a naturally reactive metal. As it oxidises, its colour may deepen, develop a natural patina, gain finer surface texture or show local tonal variation. These changes are part of its material character.
For copper, antique-finished, electroplated or heat-coloured works, do not use standard polishing cloths or strong metal cleaners, as they may damage the surface treatment.
Heat-Coloured Copper
Heat colouring is created through the natural reaction between temperature and the metal surface. Avoid metal-polishing cloths, abrasive cloths, strong cleaning agents, alcohol cleaners, prolonged soaking and high temperatures.
For daily care, use only a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use polishing methods to restore metal brightness, as this may permanently alter the heat-coloured surface. If the colour layer becomes lighter, duller or locally uneven over time, this is generally a normal result of oxidation, friction and wear.
Enamel and Gemstone Pieces
Keep enamel and gemstone works in a stable, gentle environment. Avoid direct sunlight, high temperatures and water. Prevent strong impacts or compression, and handle the body or base of the piece rather than pulling on pendants, prongs, chains, fine openwork or other delicate components.
Professional Repair and Refinishing
If a piece develops a loose setting, structural damage, a cracked solder point, plating wear, severe oxidation or damage to an enamel surface, do not attempt forceful cleaning or unauthorised repair. Please contact LIKREAT Client Care for an assessment.
